Our Mission

Our mission is to advocate for client choice and rights to ensure Missourians receive the highest quality care and to foster peer development and sustainability with the ultimate goal of long-term recovery.

Who are peer support specialists?

Peer support specialists use their lived, firsthand recovery experience to help others who are in and seeking recovery.

Peer support services, as defined by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, are delivered by individuals who have been successful in recovery from mental and/or substance use disorders who help others experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, peer support services help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Peer support services can effectively extend the reach of treatment beyond the clinical setting into the everyday environment of those seeking a successful, sustained recovery process.
